Prime Minister Gonsalves met with Maria Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President of the Republic of the Philippines. Prime Minister Gonsalves and President Arroyo discussed ways in which the archipelagic states of the Philippines and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines could cooperate and learn from each other. The two leaders agreed to find areas of cooperation within the sphere of the United Nations and other multilateral institutions. Prime Minister Gonsalves and President Arroyo also discussed scholarship opportunities for Vincentian students, and President Arroyo agreed to help facilitate the studies of Vincentian students in the Philippines.
