Ambassador Camillo Gonsalves Presents His Credentials to Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

NEW YORK, NY, November 6, 2007: Ambassador Camillo Gonsalves officially presented his credentials to United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon today at Mr. Ban's UN office.

Ambassador Gonsalves succeeds Margaret Hughes-Ferrari, who served as Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' Permanent Representative and Ambassador for the past six years.

The presentation ceremony was attended by Dr. the Hon. Jerrol Thompson, Minister of Telecommunications, Science Technology & Industry, and Lennox Daniel, the Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

After the presentation ceremony, the small Vincentian delegation met for a brief private meeting with Secretary General Ban, who pledged his support to St. Vincent and the Grenadines' development efforts and to Ambassador Gonsalves' work at the United Nations.

Ambassador Gonsalves pledged to hit the ground running, and looked forward to a fruitful relationship with the Secretary General.
