Nedra Miguel has been promoted to the post of Minister Counselor and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Mission of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the United Nations.

Ms. Miguel had served as Counselor since 2006, under both Ambassador Camillo Gonsalves and his predecessor, Ambassador Margaret Hughes-Ferrari.

Prior to joining the Permanent Mission of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the United Nations, Ms. Miguel worked for five years at the Consulate of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

In congratulating Ms. Miguel on her appointment, Ambassador Camillo Gonsalves called the promotion "recognition of many years of hard work and dedicated service to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines." Ambassador Gonsalves called Ms. Miguel's contribution to the Permanent Mission "indispensable," and highlighted the "countless hours" she spent working alongside the Ambassador during Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' role as co-facilitators of the United Nations Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis and its Impact on Development. "Nedra was with me every step of the way," said Ambassador Gonsalves. "Many days, she literally worked around the clock to keep us abreast of all the late-breaking developments in the negotiations."
