PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, November 30, 2009: - Ambassador Camillo Gonsalves returned today from Trinidad and Tobago, where he attended the 2009 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
Ambassador Gonsalves was part of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines delegation, which was headed by Prime Minister Ralph E. Gonsalves. Ambassador Ellsworth John was also a member of the Vincentian delegation.
Ambassador Gonsalves attended the CHOGUM Foreign Ministers meeting on behalf of Sir Louis Straker, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Sir Louis was attending meetings in Angola at the time.
The Vincentian delegation played a key role in negotiating the "Port of Spain Climate Change Consensus." Additionally, the Vincentian delegation held meetings with CARICOM heads of government, and the heads of government of Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and South Africa.
Ambassador Gonsalves also participated in the Commonwealth People's Forum, a biannual meeting between Commonwealth Foreign Ministers and civil society organisations.
